Ivan Lester Cole

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of St. Louis, MI. Age 72, died Friday, August 14, 2020 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born April 26, 1948 in Alma, Michigan, the son of Kenneth W. & Arlene W. (Bailor) Cole.

Ivan graduated from St. Louis High School in 1966. He earned his bachelors in Business from Western Michigan University in 1971. Ivan worked for Fingerle Lumber, and then worked in contractor sales at Chelsea Lumber Company since the early 80's. He continued to enjoy his work, never retiring. Ivan enjoyed golf and Euchre, and loved his cats. He also liked cooking and traveling.

Dwayne Leon Miller

 Age 89, passed on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born August 18, 1930 in Salem, Indiana, the son of Claude & Edna (Boston) Miller.  Dwayne graduated from Salem High School in Salem Indiana in 1948. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he attended flight school, becoming a pilot. Before retiring from the Air Force Reserve, he reached the rank of Lt. Colonel, proudly serving his country for 28 years. As a civilian, Dwayne worked for Culligan in Ann Arbor for 30 years, retiring in 1994. After retiring, he stayed busy with projects around the house and held a variety of part-time jobs working well into his seventies. He was a member of the Westside United Methodist Church, but recently attended Chelsea Nazarene Church. In his spare time, Dwayne enjoyed dominos, card games, puzzles, woodworking and Big Ten college football. 

Patricia Arline McCarthy

Age 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer in Traverse City Michigan. She was born January 2, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph John and Bertha Arline (Wallace) Zitney.

Patricia graduated from Warren Woods High School in 1967. She went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Western Michigan University and then her Masters in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University. Patricia was a well-respected educator for more than 30 years. She loved kids, especially her grandchildren.

Warren J. Mayer

Of Chelsea, Michigan, age 88, died Friday, July 31, 2020, at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor. He was born September 13, 1931, in Three Rivers, Michigan, the son of John & Lucile (Collyer) Mayer.

Warren graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1949, then attended Western Michigan University for his undergraduate degree. He received his Masters degree from the University of Iowa. Warren was in the U.S. Army where he served during the hydrogen tests at Eniwetok Atoll. He was a band director and guard at the Ft. Leavenworth Disciplinary Barracks. Warren was band and choir director in Kingsley/Pierson School District in Iowa for 13 years, then spent 25 years as a band director in the Chelsea School District. He was very involved with the Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association, played clarinet in the Dexter Community Band, and Ann Arbor Civic Summer Band. Warren was a member and choir director of Zion Lutheran Church, Assistant Scoutmaster at Troop 425, and a member of Chelsea Kiwanis for many years. He also volunteered at Chelsea Retirement Community.

Margaret Emma Rink

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Royal Oak and Howell, age 98, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Chelsea Community Hospital. She was born February 10, 1922, in Detroit, the daughter of J. Wesley and Alice J. (Bryan) Dennis.  Margaret graduated from Central High School in Detroit in Jan 1940. She worked in accounting with Bell Telephone for 2 years. She then studied Social Studies at Adrian College, where she met Donald. She later earned her Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from MSU. She taught at Utica School District and later Howell School District where she retired in 1985. Margaret attended Chelsea United Methodist Church.
