Ronald Henry Kraska

of Dexter, MI, age 83, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Chelsea Retirement Community. He was born October 31, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Matthew & Ann (Wilczynski) Kraska.

Ron attended Ford Trade School and worked 40 years with Ford Motor Company. He loved fishing and hunting. Ron enjoyed spending his time at his cottage on Halfmoon lake.

Anita Frances Pateck

of Chelsea, MI, formerly of Ann Arbor, age 101, died Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born August 9, 1916 in Festus, Missouri, the daughter of Stephen Andrew & Carrie Louise (Bradley) Boyer. Anita loved playing cards and bingo, reading magazines, crossword puzzles, watching television, and getting her hair and nails done. Her son-in-law, John Patoros, took care of her in his home for many years until her later years after losing his wife. She was a sales clerk at Cunninghams for many years. Anita loved living in her retirement home, Chelsea Retirement Community. The residents and staff were just wonderful to her. She was a kind hearted lady and will be missed by all.

Viola Eleanor Welshans

of Chelsea, MI, age 93, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born April 22, 1925 in Roseville, MI, the daughter of Carl F. & Meta E. (Schuldt) Schoenberg. Viola graduated from Eastland High School in Roseville in 1944. She worked for 11 years for Briggs, which became Chrysler. She has been a member of St. Jacob Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grass Lake since 1955, and  belonged to WINGS (“Women in God's Service”) mission group at church. Most of all, Viola was a loving mother to her four children.

Nels R. Mickelson Jr.

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Ypsilanti, age 78, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 15, 2018 at Chelsea Retirement Community. He was born September 13, 1939 in Adrian, MI, the son of Nels R. Mickelson Sr., & Helen L. (Stage) Mickelson.   Nels attended the Chelsea Free Methodist Church. He was a Life Member of the Masons. Nels owned a grocery store in Rawsonville, MI, and later worked as a drywall finisher. He lettered in many sports in High School, and later enjoyed watching sports, especially football and basketball. Nels loved the outdoors and hunting. Later in life, he became an avid reader.

Robert Peter Houle

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 93, died Monday, June 11, 2018 at Brittany Manor in Midland. He was born November 18, 1924 in Wilson, Michigan, the son of Peter F. & Lillian A. (Benette) Houle.  Bob was the 5th of 7 siblings. He served in the US Army during WWII, and was a POW, earning 3 Bronze Battle Stars. Bob became a Millwright/Electrician for Rockwell International, and retired from there. He was very devout in his faith. Bob was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church; the Franciscan Third Order for several years, and the Knights of Columbus.  He toured the Midwest with the Shroud of Turin.  Bob was President and caretaker of Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Chelsea for many years. He loved fly-fishing, camping, golfing, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
