Roger Edsel Sheren, age 77, passed away on Saturday, January 2nd, 2021 in Chelsea, Michigan. Roger was born in August 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Keith and Josephine Sheren and was blessed to have three older sisters. He graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn and Detroit’s Wayne State University. He was a lifelong fan of the University of Michigan football and their marching band.
Roger married his soulmate, Kathy Herron, in 1994. He is also survived by his sons, Zachary (Keri) and Nicholas (Ashley), his grandchildren, Seth, Davis, Elena, and Emery, and Zach and Nick’s mother Patricia McIsaac.
Roger led a full and busy life surrounded by those he loved and who loved him. He worked as an educator, an accountant, and a small business owner. His true life’s labor, though, was that of a builder and a restorer. Roger recrafted houses in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Michigan leaving each as a unique work of art, beauty, and hard work. Although his timeliness at restoring his vintage Mustang might have been slightly less accomplished, as it wasn’t quite ready for either of his adult sons, or grandsons, to drive to their high school proms, he was able to drive it this past summer. Above all else, Roger was a very kind, giving person and he was never too busy to help his friends and family with any task, large or small.
Roger never liked being the center of attention and per his wish, there will be no service. He was cute snd curious as a boy, active and fun as a teen, and clever, industrious and caring as a man. He was my “good guy”. He was always “fine” when asked and always thought of others first. He loved sharing his kitchen gifts of pierogi, bread snd butter pickles and raspberry jam which he mailed to me. I even got a bag of Florida beach sand to “put my toes in” He knew when someone need help snd he offered and showed up. Five weeks before he died he helped me with a move. We rode in his truck for 10 hours and snacked on one of our favorites, “SPAM” which he had tucked in the glove box with a knife and napkins. I am blessed with many treasured memories of life with this “good guy”, my brother.

I wish I could text him one more time, talk to him on the phone one more time, drive with him up to Chelsea Lumber one more time, I wish I could help him work on his Mustang one more time. I'm going to miss doing a lot of things with him. I'm going to miss his tubs of spaghetti sauce and mac & cheese he would give to me to take home. Roger was extremely generous and would do what he could to help anyone. I miss him.
