Jean Miriam (Seeley) Ketcham

age 98, died Monday, Oct. 15,  2018. Daughter of Glenn Palmer Seeley and Georgina Brondige Seeley, Mrs. Ketcham was born at home in Pontiac, MI on March 4, 1920. She worked at the Pontiac Daily Press in one of it’s first high school apprenticeship programs before graduating from Pontiac High School. After graduating from Pontiac Business Institute, she graduated in Home Economics and Journalism from Michigan State College in 1942. She was Foods Editor of the Chicago Daily News, then worked at Kellogg’s of Battle Creek and in the Livonia schools. 

She married Gilbert N. Ketcham September 6, 1941, in Waterford, MI.  In 1967, they bought a Management Recruiters, Inc. franchise and moved to Charlotte, NC. She was a member of Charlotte Quilters Guild and President of Raintree Women’s Club. She was preceded in death in 2003 by her husband of 61 years.

Darell G. Maschke

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Ann Arbor, age 75, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the University of Michigan Hospital. He was born July 24, 1943 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Gustave A. & Arlene Flossie (Schumaker) Maschke.  Darell graduated from Pioneer High School.  He retired from General Motors Hydra-matic Plant in Ypsilanti, where he had worked as a millwright. He also worked for Walmart as a sales associate. Darell loved golfing, hunting, and spending time at his lake house with friends and family.

Paula Kaye Ludwig

Paula Kaye Ludwig (66) passed away peacefully in the arms of her beloved husband, daughter and son on Wednesday September 26th, 2018 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI after a long, brave, and courageous battle with complications from pneumonia.  She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Bob (Robert), adored children Steven Ludwig and Katherine (Matthew Pelletier), mother Mary (Heamon) and sisters Janice and Marcia. Her loving uncle “Bub” and kitty companion, Tux, preceded her in death.

Deborah Evelyn Hill

of Pleasant Lake, MI, formerly of Ida, age 66, died Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson with her family at her side. She was born January 7, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Robert & Vada (Manor) Jasmund.

Deborah graduated from Ida High School in 1970. She worked for Lohr Tax Service, and upon his retirement, Deborah then started Hill’s Tax Service, which specialized in farm taxes. She enjoyed helping the farmers of Ida. In addition to the tax service, she operated Creative Page Designs custom printing. Deborah was a member of NATP (National Association of Tax Practitioners) and was a member of Main Street Church of Chelsea. She was choreographer for the Ida Marching Band color guard for many years. Deborah was most proud to be a wife, mother and grandma.

Richard B. Foster, Jr.

Rick Foster, aged 84, died September 25, 2018 at his daughter’s home in Dexter, MI.  He had been living with his daughter, Martha and her husband, John, for the past three years, since the death of his wife Gretchen.  He was born March 31, 1934 in Lansing, Michigan and was the son of Richard and Frances (Arbaugh) Foster, Sr.

 He attended Cranbrook Schools (’52) and received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College (’56).  He received his Law Degree from University of Michigan (’61). 

 Rick was an attorney in the law firm of Foster, Swift, Collins and Coey.  He worked there for over 20 years alongside his father, Dick.  The firm was originally founded by his grandfather, Walter Foster.  Following his work at Foster, Swift, Rick founded the consulting firm BanConsult, Inc., serving community banks and regional bank holding companies throughout the mid-west in mergers and acquisitions, corporate strategy and retail banking best practices.  Rick also continued work as an attorney at law during and after his work at BanConsult, Inc.
