William Delmar “Del” Maloney


of Manchester, Michigan, age 75, died Monday, April 11, 2016 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born December 4, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Joseph & Opal (St. Peter) Maloney. Del served in the United States Army. He worked for 30 years at GM in Romulus. Del was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Manchester. On May 25, 1964, he married Donna M. Pitricelli at St. Bernardine Catholic Church in Westland, and she survives. 

V. Jean Ford

Photo of V Jean Fordof Chelsea, died March 30, 2016 at the age of 79. She was born in Detroit on June 30, 1936 to Eugenia and Henry Neff. Jean graduated from Western High School in Detroit in 1953. She attended Wayne State University and Washtenaw Community College. On Aug. 20, 1983, she wed Andrew Ford, a teacher and school administrator and later owner of an engineering consulting firm.  She and her husband kept horses for many years on their property in Sylvan Township. The couple also served for years as co-superintendents of the horse division of the Chelsea Community Fair. Jean’s love of animals included an assortment of farm animals and especially her canine friends, Midgie, Howie, Newfie, and Gigi as well as one extraordinary cat, Lumpy.

Arthur "Art" Bryant Chubb

of Dexter, MI, age 58, died Thursday, March 17, 2016. He was born January 29, 1958 in Garden City, Michigan, the son of Paul Eugene & Vera Maxine (Smith) Chubb.

  Art was very intelligent, and invented several things for the company he worked for.   He liked the country life, riding his Harley Davidsons, and driving his classic cars.  Art was a very generous person and a friend to everyone.  He loved his family and especially his grandchildren.

 

George Gilroy Graham

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Palm Harbor, Florida, age 90, died peacefully Friday, January 22, 2016 at his home. He was born April 28, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Smith Gilroy & Margaret (McGill) Graham. George served in the Unites States Navy, and was stationed in the Pacific during WWII.  He graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Wayne State University, and a Masters in Education from Eastern Michigan University. George was a skilled upholsterer for the first 25 years of his marriage. He then taught Junior High School in Crestwood and Brighton Area Schools, retiring in 1986. George attended the First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor, and Palm Harbor United Methodist Church in Palm Harbor Florida. He was an avid musician, skilled at organ, piano (as an accompanist), and sang in Choir and Barbershop. George was also an avid swimmer.  

Augusta M. Sloan

of Chelsea, formerly of Dexter, age 101, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Chelsea. She was born October 2, 1914 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Anton & Winifred (Hart) Schabas. “Gussie”  was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter. She helped her husband run Sloan Nursery in Detroit & Dexter.   Augusta was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, known for her gentle soul. She was an optimist, and was very kind to everyone.
