Stanley Ewald Staffeld II

Chelsea, Michigan, age 86, died Monday, October 31, 2016 at his home. He was born December 11, 1929 in Detroit, the son of Stanley E. & Harriet (Tanner) Staffeld Sr.  Stan served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelors in Mathematics. Stan became a Registered Professional Engineer, and spent most of his career at Chrysler, retiring as a Chief Engineer in Charge of all technical computing. He was active in Chelsea's Friends of the Library, and a charter member of the Chelsea Adult Learners Institute.

Mary Rose Gietzen

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 96, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Legacy Assisted Living in Jackson. She was born October 14, 1920 in Boyers, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Carmen & Edith (McCall) Joseph.  Mary moved to Chelsea in 2002.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea, and former member of St. Martin DePorres in Warren.  She was also a member of the Chelsea Women's Club.  

Lawrence "Red" A. Kruise Jr.

Lawrence A. “Red”  Kruise Jr. passed away on October 21, 2016 at the age of 78 with family at his bedside.  A proud veteran, he served in the Navy from 1955-1959.  He retired in 2004 after 40 years at Ford Motor Co., Rouge Plant, then Milan Plastic Plant as an electrician.  Red attended Baker College attaining a degree December 2001, Magna Cum Laude.

He was Past-President of Chelsea area chapter #5410 of the AARP.  Red drove the Chelsea Community Hospital Shuttle.  He started a bowling league with fellow  workers at the Rouge Plant.  As a member of the Chelsea Senior Center, Red loved playing Bridge and Euchre. He enjoyed several cruises with his wife and friends. Red loved having coached his sons in Little League Baseball and played men’s softball himself.

Dixie Lee Wenk

Our beloved Dixie, age 80, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. She was born January 19, 1936 in Ada, Ohio, the daughter of Harold & Ada E. (Rudd) Rowe.  Dixie graduated from Chelsea High School in 1953. She worked in the office at Chelsea Milling, and then Heydlauff's Appliance for 40 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Dixie liked to travel, especially in Northern Michigan with her family.

Donley W. & Trillis M. Boyer

Don and Trill Boyer

A celebration of life is planned to remember Donley W. & Trillis M. (Eaton) Boyer on Saturday, October 29, 1:00 pm at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea. Visitation will be from Noon until 1:00 pm.  Their grandson, Tim Bristle, is officiating.  Private burial will be at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Mulliken, MI. immediately following the service.

Don was born September 20, 1920 to Carl W. & Viola M. (DePew) Boyer. He lived in Mulliken, but graduated from Grand Ledge High School. He attended Western Michigan University for 2 years before World War II interrupted his studies.  He spent 4 years in the Air Force during WWII. Don was a Conservation Officer for the State of Michigan in Washtenaw County for most of his career.  In 1971, he accepted a promotion as District Law Supervisor of Pontiac Lake, supervising the officers of the 4 metro counties.  He retired in 1980.  Don passed away on October 15, 2007 at Bear Creek Assisted Living in Hudson, Florida.
