William Russell Lowery

William Bill LoweryAge 97, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Hillside Terrace in the company of his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents Ray J. and Fern (Follmer) Lowery, all nine siblings (Alvin Lowery, Marian Mosier, Patricia Nygren, Ray J. Lowery Jr., Joyce Fuller, George Lowery, Dolores Heinrichs, Darrell Lowery, and John Lowery), his wife Beverly Witt, his sons Mike Larkin and Gavin Barclay, and son-in-law Gary Eddings.  Bill is survived by his daughters Patricia (Larkin) Eddings, Cathleen (Lowery) Piccione, and Barbara Tozser; his sons Ray Lowery and David Barclay; his former wife Patricia (Campbell) Lowery; and more grandchildren and great-grandchildren than you can shake a stick at.

Gloria Maryann Cook

Age 89, died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Legacy Assisted Living in Jackson. She was born July 16, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Moses & Mary (Horvath) Gombkoto.  Gloria lived in River Rouge, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, and Westland, before moving to Chelsea in 1991.  She graduated from River Rouge High School, and  worked at Kresge and Manufactures National Bank in Dearborn. Gloria was a longtime member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Dearborn and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed cooking, reading, ceramics and gardening.   

Paul Edward Becker

Age 95, died Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Silver Maples.  He was born January 1, 1924 in Chicago, IL, the son of Arthur E Becker and Harriet (Smith) Becker Kinkead.

Born and raised in Chicago, Paul was always motivated to learn, to serve, and to grow spiritually.  He did so much for Calumet High School that the school initiated a “service” letter just for him.  Paul attended the University of Chicago for two years before entering the Army Air Corps, where he became a 2nd Lieutenant instructor, flying many sorts of planes, from single air engines to B-29s. 

John Leonard Green

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 88, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. He was born March 12, 1930 in Lapeer, Michigan, the son of Joy Leonard & Genieve (Colson) Green.   John graduated from Lapeer High School, and attended Central Michigan University, He worked for the Hoover Company for 42 years, beginning as a door-to-door salesman and retiring as National Sales Director.  He was a member of Chelsea First United Methodist Church, the Wm. Mckinley Lodge #431 F&A Masons, AASR Valley of Canton, and the Tadmor Shrine. He was a Life member of the North Canton Elks, a member of the Retired Executive & Professional Men’s Club; and was inducted into the Canton Hall of Fame.

Joseph L. Geer

of Jackson, MI, formerly of Grass Lake, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Legacy Assisted Living in Jackson. He was born October 15, 1928 in Chelsea, MI, the son of William & Alura (Foster) Geer.

Joseph graduated from Chelsea High School in 1947, then served in the US Army in Germany from 1950 to 1952. He worked at Federal Screw in the early 1950's, where he met Gladys. Joseph retired from Chrysler Proving Grounds, where he worked most of the time in the Brake Lab. Joseph was a former member of North Sharon Baptist Church, and was currently a member of Faith Baptist. He served as the mechanic at church to keep the buses running. Joseph enjoyed working at home, woodworking and gardening. His garden fed a lot of family and neighbors. Joseph led Bible studies at Legacy Assisted Living. He didn’t enjoy games, but he loved helping the kitchen staff at Legacy.
