Rev. James G. Simmons

of Chelsea, Michigan (formerly of Ann Arbor),  age 90, passed away peacefully at his home in CRC (Chelsea Retirement Community) on Tuesday, April 24th, 2018. James, the loving husband of Charlotte Graves Wint Simmons, was born to George James and Florence Ella (McPhearson) Simmons on March 28,1928 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.   James is survived by his loving wife Charlotte, who he married 68 years ago in Ann Arbor. He is also survived by his three daughters Mary (Brian) Hughes of White Lake, Judi (Richard) Trenton of Roscommon, and Pamela Simmons of Ypsilanti: eight grandchildren Brie (Matthew) LaLone, Cheryl Taylor, Erin (Ben) Stevenson, Melissa Trenton, (fiance Todd Hohauser), Rachel (Brandon) Evans, Matthew Garza and 8 1/2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Wayne.

Leo W. Geisler III

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, age 88, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, April 16, 2018 at his home. He was born March 2, 1930 in Plainfield,  NJ, the son of Leo W. & Florence E. (Hatch) Geisler. On Feb. 4, 1956, he married Eileen M. Zentz in Milan, MI.  Leo and Eileen moved to Chelsea in 2006, coming from Bethel Park, PA.   He was an Elder at the John McMillen Presbyterian Church in PA.  He worked for Pittsburgh  Plate Glass for 13 years, and the Heinz Corporation in plant maintenance for 22 years, retiring in 1992.  Leo was active with Boy Scout troop 476 and the Chelsea Senior Center computer club.  

George Carl Freymuth

George Carl Freymuth died January 26, 2018 at the age of 76 years old. He is survived by his wife,Sheila, of 47 years, daughter Kim (Scott) Beloskur, son Carl (Norma) Freymuth, grandchildren Jonathon, Jordan, Ashley, Devin, Alyssa, Bentley, Lincoln, Taylor and Bradley. Also his sister Linda Sue Proctor and her children. He was preceded in death by his parents Lou and Madge Freymuth and grandson, Cody Freymuth.

George was a man who, first and foremost, loved God. That foundational characteristic of him spilled into every area of his life. He was a man who loved his family unconditionally. He was a man of peace, someone you could trust and he loved to serve people. He was a humble man and would stand in the background unless he shared one of his stories that made everyone laugh.

Helen Francis Rigg

Age 99, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 in her home. She was born April 23, 1918 in Mosquito Twp., IL, the daughter of Walter B. & Freda F. (Elder) Butterfield.  Helen moved to Michigan 59 years ago from Niantic, IL.  She worked for Double A Products.  Helen was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church, Life Member and Past Matron of Eastern Star Chapter #311 in Saline, and member and Past President of American Legion Auxiliary Emil Jacob Post.  She was a Civil Service Award recipient.

William Frederick “Bill” Storey

William Bill Storeyof Chelsea, Michigan, age 95, died Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Chelsea, Michigan. He was born December 21, 1922 in Ionia, Michigan, the son of William C. & Lena M. (Knight) Storey.  Bill, a retired Marine Corps pilot and WWII veteran, was a devoted husband to Jean, his wife of 71 years.  His interest in national and local politics and current events led to many lively discussions with his children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors. His wise counsel was respected and appreciated by many. Bill was also a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was proud of his family’s accomplishments and always showed interest in their lives.
