Norma Jean Lawrence

Of Dexter, Michigan, age 89, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born November 25, 1932, in Lake City, MI, the daughter of Eugene Raymond and Evelyn (LaDouceur) Young.

Norma grew up in Dexter, graduating from Dexter High School in 1951. She attended Cleary College, earning a secretarial degree. Norma worked at Cooper Dental for many years before retiring. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Chelsea. Norma enjoyed bowling, and bowled in a ladies league in Dexter. She loved to read, playing on her iPad, antiquing, dancing, and traveling with her sister, Eva. She enjoyed making crafts which she gave to her family.

Pat Gauthier

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 67, passed away quietly at her home Thursday, October 6, 2022. She was born Tuesday, April 26, 1955, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, born to James Lewis and Esther Marie (Patton) Henry; raised by Arthur Oliver “Bud” and Bessie Rosella (Keckler) Birchman.

Pat graduated from Van Buren High School in 1973. She worked for Equity Meats in Ohio, St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea, in Shipping and Receiving at Borders Books Distribution Center in Dexter, and then with Jaytech, a subsidiary of L & W Engineering. Pat volunteered with Faith In Action between her jobs at St. Mary and Borders Books, and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in the early 90's. She was a Girl Scout leader for 13 years, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Pat spent a lot of time with her family. She enjoyed garage sales and bowling. She liked fishing, camping, and being outdoors, tie dye clothes and 70's and country music.

Glendon Robert Schlott

of Chelsea, MI, age 96, died Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Chelsea Retirement Community. He was born August 2, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Daniel Edward & Ruby Mae (Larkins) Schlott, Jr.   Glen went to Cooley High School in Detroit, then worked for Michigan Bell his entire career, retiring in the 1980s.  He was a member of Nardin Park United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Nardiners Senior Citizen group. Glen loved going out to eat at good restaurants.
 

Rose Marie Turner

Age 86, died Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Chelsea Hospital. She was born November 5, 1935 in Petersburg, West Virgina, the daughter of Homer Lee and Anna Ardelia (Mongold) Swick.

Rose attended Davis and Elkins College after high school where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. After college she moved to Washington D.C. where she met the love of her life, Robert Turner. They were married in October of 1957. They moved to Ypsilanti in 1965 and started an insurance business which they owned and operated for over 40 years.

Richard Damian “Dick” Lutovsky

Richard Damian “Dick” Lutovsky, Captain of Old Yeller and Founder of Dick’s Last Resort on Patterson Lake, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at his home with loved ones. He faced his battle with dementia with strength and courage. He leaves the Dam Site Inn and life in general a little quieter now that his laugh is gone.

A Michigander through and through, Dick was born in Ann Arbor on April 12, 1957, the son of Raymond E. and Rosemary A. (Lyons) Lutovsky. Dick graduated from Chelsea High School in 1975, and then attended Ohio Technical College. He returned to Chelsea and worked at Chelsea Proving Grounds as an Impact Technician, finally retiring in 2020.
