Doris Jean Hammel of Chelsea, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her husband and children on Saturday, August 12, 2017.She was born March 4, 1939 in Flint, Michigan. She was the daughter of Roy and Blanche Cora (Lockwood) McKellar, who have preceded her in death. Doris was the eldest of 8 children. Her siblings, who loved her dearly, are Ronald, Raymond (Shirley), Stanley, Lawrence (MaryAnne), Elizabeth, Dorothea and Norma.
On August 18, 1962, Doris was married to James Walter Hammel. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and very giving to others. She graduated in 1980 from Chelsea Adult High. Doris was also an active member in the Modern Mothers Club, Twin Club and a Den Mother to Cub Scout Den Pack #455.

 of Gregory, MI, age 107, died peacefully Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Chelsea. She was born March 12, 1910 in Chelsea, Michigan, the daughter of Ernest John & Addie (Ortbring) Pfitzenmaier.  Mrs. Hochrein lived in the Chelsea area all of her life.  She was a member of the Covenant Church and the Chelsea High School Class of 1929. Elsie loved animals, especially her dog Shady.  She traveled extensively, in the U.S. and abroad. Elsie enjoyed doing needlework, which she called her “fancywork.” She loved to play card games, especially euchre.
