Shirley Ann Scott

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 79, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born May 11, 1936 in Battle Creek, Michigan , the daughter of Walter A. & Marguerite L. (LeBari) Scott. Shirley was an avid sports fan, and loved to watch them on TV. She had a few favorites in particular, the Detroit Tigers, University of Michigan for both football and basketball, and the Kentucky Wildcats for basketball. She loved animals, dogs and cats,  especially twin tabby cats, Arthur and Barney. Shirley loved to walk around town, stopping in stores on main street, buying her lotto tickets, and going to the park.

Rev. King W. Hanna

Of Manchester, Michigan, age 76, died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the University of Michigan Hospital. He was born October 6, 1939 in Detroit, the son of John G. & Dorothea May (Flood) Hanna.

King graduated from Chelsea High School in 1957, and Eastern Michigan University in 1966. He graduated from Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 1970, and was ordained a United Methodist minister.  King served as pastor at many churches, starting as a student pastor at Wellsville UMC, then as an ordained pastor at Westside UMC in Ann Arbor, Grace and Skandia UMC in Marquette, Mitchell UMC in Negaumee, and Marble Memorial UMC in Milan.  He retired in 2003, and served as interim pastor at several churches. King served on the Institutional Review Board for Marquette General Hospital and Trinity Health System. King was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 40 years.  He spent his life helping people and could talk to anyone.

Noreen R. Schuelke

of Grass Lake, MI, age 93, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at her home. She was born April 29, 1922 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Lawrence & Rose (Rowell) Navarre. Noreen graduated from Brighton High School. She worked at Monsanto for a while and owned Noreen's Fabric in Trenton, MI. She was an avid sportswoman, winning Michigan State Trap Championship in 1974, and the Michigan State Bow Championship in 1978. She was an avid golfer. Noreen was an active member of the Bethel United Church of Christ in Manchester.

Robert "Bob" W. Strong

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 79, left his home and family to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 16, 2016. He was born February 4, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George E. & Louise H. (Nagle) Strong.

   Bob graduated from Proviso High School in Maywood, IL, graduated from Northwestern University, and spent two years at Dallas Theological Seminary.  His faith was the most important thing in his life, and he served the Lord as an Elder at Immanuel Bible Church in Chelsea and as a volunteer for Gideons International.  Bob was an engineer who worked for King Seeley, Chrysler (28 years), GT Products (10 years), and Eaton Corporation, all at the same location in Ann Arbor.  He delighted in being involved in all his children's activities as they grew up, and continued the tradition with his grandchildren.  He was a loving husband and father who used his time to serve His Lord and his family.

Lloyd Alan Herrst

of Ann Arbor, MI, formerly of Dexter, age 74, died Monday, January 11, 2016 in Ann Arbor. He was born November 30, 1941 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the son of Francis & Rita (Cobb)  Herrst. Lloyd lived in Dexter most of his life.  He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1960, and mowed cemetery lawns around Dexter for many years, including those of St. Andrew's, St. Joseph’s, and Forrest Lawn. He worked as a janitor in many places including a barbershop in Ann Arbor and for the Washtenaw Board of Education. He enjoyed photography and collecting salt and pepper shakers.
