Paul John Simon
of Chelsea, MI, age 93, died Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Falls Church,Virginia. He was born December 14, 1923 in Remus, Michigan, the son of Alonzo & Agnes (Doerr) Simon. Paul served with the Army in WWII, landing at Normandy on D-Day. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Chelsea. He taught for 34 years, teaching agriculture in central Michigan and wood shop and science at Beach Middle School in Chelsea for 18 years. Paul traveled extensively in and outside of the U.S. He wrote poetry, and was very proud of his full head of white hair.
Nancy Lucille Tandy
of Gregory, MI. Nancy, age 87, died unexpectedly on Saturday September 16, 2017 at her home with her husband at her side. She was born March 30, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of John George and Mary (Cheney) Haas.
On December 27, 1947 she married John M. Tandy. While John was in the United States Army, they spent twenty years living and traveling throughout the U. S. and Europe with their family. Upon their return from Frankfurt, Germany they inherited the Glenn Centennial farm on Hankerd Rd.. Gregory, Michigan. Here she began her love of gardening which she enjoyed her entire life.
Marcella Mae Wojtas
of Chelsea, Michigan, age 92, died Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Superior Woods in Ypsilanti. She was born April 11, 1925 in Middletown, Illinois, the daughter of William Thomas & Nellie (Moutardier) McGrew. Marcella was one of eleven kids. During World War II, she was part of the Rosie the Riveter era, as she helped produce war supplies. She retired from Ford Motor Company as a quality control inspector. Marcella attended St. Paul United Church of Christ in Chelsea. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and crocheting.
Joyce Elaine Hall
of Chelsea, Michigan, age 87, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at her home. She was born February 6, 1930 in Douglass Twp., Berks County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Charles & Cora (Weller) Flicker. Joyce grew up in Pennsylvania, and through the years she lived in Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia. In 2008 she moved to Michigan to live out the rest of her life. Her purpose in life was to serve her family. She loved spending time with all her children and grandchildren, and her favorite hobby was to be around and meet new people.
