Jean Elizabeth Lewis

of Chelsea, MI, age 95, died Friday, November 8, 2019 in Jackson, Michigan. She was born September 19, 1924 in Genesee Twp., Michigan, the daughter of Edward & Jane (Gillie) Sanborn. Jean grew up in Rankin, a small town near Flint, Michigan and graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1942.  After graduation, she worked at the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint, starting in the business department and working her way up to secretary of the president, Dr. Harley Z. Wooden.  During this time, she volunteered to work with a group of teen deaf girls in the Stepping Stone Program for Self-Improvement sponsored by Mott Foundation of Flint.  

Nancy Bethke

Nancy Bethke passed away peacefully at her home on October 29, 2019. Born in Galesburg Illinois in 1933, Nancy started school in a rural one room schoolhouse, she had her own horse and brought her dog Robert to school every day.  Nancy graduated from the University of Illinois as a registered nurse. She worked in hospitals in Champaign, Chicago before moving to Ann Arbor to work at the VA hospital. Nancy married Bill Bethke in 1961 then focused on raising her daughters Carrie Barroso and Jennifer Bethke. She loved being grandmother to Morgen Barroso, Erik Barroso, Spencer Campbell and Blake Campbell. Nancy enjoyed art projects and treasure hunts with her grandchildren, vacationing on the beautiful beaches in Michigan, golfing, gardening, week-long birthday celebrations, baking phenomenal apple pies and eating ice cream every day.  

Nevatte Anne Willis

Age 67, of Chelsea, passed away on Sunday October 20th, 2019 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Nevatte was born on December 15th of 1951 to Ivan Louis Bare and Bebe Amos Bare. Nevatte is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Greg J. Willis, who she met in Ann Arbor when he was 16 and she was 17. She is also survived by their children Garth Bare (Amber Nichole) Willis, Grant Wade Willis, Geneva Misko Willis; one grandson Jaydon Fredrick Willis; and their dear friend Myranda Ruthanne Catalano. She is also survived by her sister Cheryl Lou King, and preceded in death by her sister Michelle Faye Bradley, and her parents.

Michael Anthony Weiss

 
of Chelsea, Michigan, age 69, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Angela Hospice in Livonia. He was born October 12, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan.  Mike is the son of Anthony O. & Mary Clare  (Fuerst) Weiss. Mike retired from Chrysler Proving Grounds where he was a driver/mechanic and a former Chief Union Steward for UAW Local 1284. He graduated from Centerline High School in 1968.  He began his service in the National Guard in 1968, and was a member of the  American Legion Post 31.  Mike attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea.

Mary Lou Rigg

of Chelsea, Michigan. An eternal optimist, generous in life and spirit, and blessed with an uncompromised ability to laugh, Mary Louise (Leeman) Rigg, daughter of Frederic and Mary Jane (Riker) Leeman, passed away October 20, 2019 at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson. Mary Lou was born July 9, 1947 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She lived with her family in Ann Arbor until 1965 when they moved to Manchester. Mary Lou made many friends in Manchester and maintained a close relationship with her Ann Arbor friends her entire life. After graduating from Manchester High School in 1965, she attended Northwestern Junior College in Traverse City Michigan.
