of Ann Arbor, MI, age 80, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at U of M Hospital. She was born May 25, 1936 in Hamtramck, MI, the daughter of Chester & Lucille (Sczieski) Kolodzjieski.
Bernadette graduated from Berkley High School, class of 1954. She was a homemaker most of her married life. Bernadette joined the Chelsea Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2010. She was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church in Berkley. All of her children were born on a holiday. Bernadette liked to crochet and made all of her children afghans.
On November 22, 1958, she married Robert L. Ratza Sr., and he preceded her in death in 1993. Survivors include a son, Robert Lee (Lori) Ratza of Stockbridge; a daughter, Alexandra Annette “Sissie” Cullens of Marine City; a sister, Phyllis Smith of Muskegon; an aunt, Marge Wino; four grandchildren, Kristine, Alexis, Kyle, Chadd; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Chelsea, with visitation from 10-11 am. A private burial will be at Oak View Cemetery in Royal Oak, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints - Chelsea Ward in care of "Bernie Ratza Funeral" or, Emmanuel House, 475 Evergreen Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
