Of Chelsea, formerly of Ann Arbor. Aged 77, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at her home following a battle with cancer. She was born May 4, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Edward & Mildred (Bates) Fleck.
Marilyn grew up on a farm near Metamora, Ohio. She played in the band in her youth and enjoyed music her whole life. Following school, she moved to California and on June 9, 1956, she married Joe Eisley in Pasadena, California, and shortly thereafter the couple moved to Ann Arbor. She was employed for many years as a secretary at the Ann Arbor Y, the Michigan Historical Society, and the University of Michigan. She was a member of the Ann Arbor First United Methodist Church since 1956.
Marilyn and Joe traveled all over the world, visiting six continents and living in two foreign countries. The most important things in Marilyn's life were her strong faith, her love of travel, and her family.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joe; her son Paul and his wife, Ineke Rawie, of Seal Rock, Oregon; her daughter Susan and her husband, Shengzhang Tang, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; a brother, Duane Fleck; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Fleck, and a sister, Jesse Colon.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 8, 1:00 p.m. at Silver Maples Retirement Community, Chelsea, with Rev. Kathy Schell officiating. A private burial will be at Memorial Gardens of the Ann Arbor First United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Maples Retirement Community.
