Betty Jean Roath (May 5, 1934 – August 28, 2026)
Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Royal Oak and Troy
Betty was 92 when she was welcomed into her heavenly home on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born on May 5, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, to Weldon Ray and Isabel (Gardhouse) Carnahan.
Betty worked at Commercial Contracting Corporation as a payroll accountant. After retiring, she volunteered in the outpatient surgical department at Troy Beaumont Hospital. During her lifetime, she was active in many ministries at Royal Oak Church (formerly Royal Oak Missionary Church). Betty enjoyed reading, crocheting and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She found great pleasure in making each family member feel special.
Betty was married to Kenneth Eugene Roath for 72 years until he preceded her in death on November 3, 2024. She is survived by her sons Kenneth (Debbie) Roath of Troy, Keith (Sandi) Roath of Chelsea, daughter Kathy (Carl) Reimers of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; 6 grandchildren Joel Reimers, Evan (Alissa) Roath, Christina Johnston, Jordan (Renee) Roath, Rachel (Daniel) Hennessy, and Joel Roath; 10 great-grandchildren, Mae Roath, Tanner Johnston, Allister Roath, Margot Roath, Asher Johnston, Paige Roath, Cadence Johnston, Felix Roath, Elijah Hennnessy, Noah Hennessy; and sister Donna (George) Lee. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine Burtleson.
A family memorial service will be held at a future date.
