Dana Jo-Mary Allan, of Grass Lake, Michigan, formerly of Scio Township, Michigan passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital at the age of 70. She was born on June 5, 1956, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Raymond Charles Tomshack and Laura Helen (Bergl) Dobranski.
Dana lived a life filled with kindness, compassion, and love for others. She had a caring heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether checking on a neighbor, baking for a fundraiser, creating handmade items for a cause, or simply offering a smile and a listening ear. She had a special way of making people feel loved and appreciated.
After graduating high school, Dana began her career with the State of Michigan at Michigan Rehabilitation after being recruited directly out of high school. She later worked as a medical secretary in several physicians’ offices before joining the team at Waterloo Village Market. No matter where she worked, Dana was known for her warmth, dedication, and genuine care for those around her.
Dana loved being involved in her community. She volunteered for many years at Waterloo Farm, where she enjoyed dressing in period clothing for historical reenactments and sharing stories of the village’s history. She loved crafting, baking, gardening, and giving back to causes close to her heart. In recent years, she found joy and friendship at Waterloo Village United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed worshipping and spending time with Pastor Mary and the church family.
She had a lifelong love for Doberman Pinschers, enjoyed tending to her gardens, cheering on the University of Michigan football team with her son, and taking Crotch Rocket (Motorcycle) rides with “Pops”. She found happiness in life’s simple moments and treasured the time she spent with family and friends.
Dana’s greatest joy was her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. Her grandsons were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent watching them grow and making memories together.
Dana is survived by her beloved husband, Lester Allan, whom she married on August 7, 1999 in Fowlerville after being with since 1985, her son, Mitchell (Chelsea Poupard) Allan of Temperance, MI; her sister Lynda and Jerry Haas of Allegan, Michigan and her four cherished grandsons, Maddox Bo Allan, Maddox Carter McWright, Jaxon Charles Allan, and Waylon Harmon Allan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Charles Tomshack and Laura Helen (Bergl) Dobranski, and her brother, Tommy Tomshack.
A memorial service celebrating Dana’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Waterloo Farms.
Dana’s kindness, gentle spirit, and unconditional love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea.
