Age 95, died Monday, December 23, 2024 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born May 1, 1929 in Ferguson, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph John and Laura (Mejak) McGowan.
Mary was an active member of St. Aidan Catholic Church in Livonia until she moved to Chelsea in 2017.
Mary married James Wald in St. Louis Missouri in 1961 and he preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by her son, Dr. John (Patricia Gallagher) Wald of Grass Lake; granddaughters, Sheila (Derek) Easton, and Mary Shaun Wald; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Fr. Denis McGowan CP, and Tommy McGowan.
Services are pending at this time. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Jackson County Animal Shelter 3370 Spring Arbor Rd. Jackson, Michigan 49203. Arrangements were entrusted to Cole Funeral Chapel.
