Obituaries

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 82, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in Chelsea, Michigan. He was born January 29, 1942, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Alvin Herman & Hazel Grace (Fox) Westphal.

Will served in the US Air Force in Inventory Control in Oscoda, Michigan, and Watertown, New York. Will & Jan moved to Chelsea in 1970. He worked for Bendix in Ann Arbor for ten years. He then worked as a Warranty Administrator for Auto Strasse BMW/Mercedes in Ann Arbor from 1983 to 2007. Will was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and bowling.

On January 17, 1965, he married Janice “Jan” Karen Schull in St. Clair, MN, and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2012. Survivors include a daughter, Wendy (Allen) Cole of Chelsea; a son, Scott (Melissa) Westphal of Dexter; 3 grandsons, Brian (Sarah), Joshua, and Nathan Cole; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger (Judy) Westphal.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 16, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea, with Rev. Daniel Pezzica officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove East Cemetery in Chelsea. The family received friends at Cole Funeral Chapel Sunday, 2 - 6 p.m., and Monday, noon -1p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
