Obituaries

of Jackson, Michigan, formerly of Ypsilanti, and Belleville, age 84, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Chelsea Hospital. She was born March 22, 1940, in Steele, Missouri, the daughter of William (Bud) and Estelle (Carlton) Alexander.

Joan retired from Huron Valley Girl Scout Council out of Ypsilanti, where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and going to casinos. Joan was very social and had many friends. She loved her family, most of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joan married Gerald “Jerry” Anthony Bondie on June 20, 1959, in Belleville. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2006. She is survived by her son, Tony Bondie of Grayling; her daughter, Carol (Jeff) Jack of Saline; brothers, Hurshel Alexander of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Terry (Linda) Alexander of Ypsilanti; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 11 nieces; and 6 nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sherri Ricketts; and sister, Kay Davis.

A memorial is being planned for a later date.

So sad to hear this news! I worked with Joan and I enjoyed meeting up with her and the Betty Ford Clinic ladies at the golf course. Also, spent time in Las Vegas with her at the Casino. I know she loved her family so much and she was so very proud of them. Sending love to them during this time.
