Obituaries

of Brooklyn, Michigan, age 74, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, in his home with his family at his side. He was born August 28, 1949, in Tecumseh, Michigan, the son of George & Thelma (Bryan) Cubberly.

Ron was a Chelsea High School graduate, class of ‘67. He served in the US Navy in Viet Nam, serving from 1968 - 1971, as a Boiler Operator on a Destroyer Tender. Ron then worked for General Motors for 35 years, in Ypsilanti, in Hydramatic and Powertrain. Ron was a member of the Moose Lodge in Brooklyn, and a former member of the Eagles Club #2154 in Ann Arbor.

He loved to make chili and traveled for chili cook-offs, winning many trophies. Ron was also successful pulling tractors. Ron was a very kind man who never raised his voice. He loved to fish with his family, and best friend, Steve, and loved kids. He enjoyed taking drives, cooking and catering food. Food was Ron’s love language.

On July 18, 2015, he married Melissa Hamilton in Jackson County, and she survives. Ron is also survived by two sons, Jeremy (Angel) Cubberly of Monroe, Stephen (Tina) Cubberly of Jackson; a brother, Mike (Maryann) Cubberly; two sisters, Glennis Miller, and Joyce Barringer; two sisters-in-law, Lori Cubberly, and Doris Cubberly; five granddaughters, Alexandrea “Allie”, Kristen, Cierra, Madison, and Isabella; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin Cubberly; brothers, Jerry Armstrong, George Cubberly, and Don Cubberly; and sisters, Valerie Davis and Betty Armstrong.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 from noon - 4 pm at the Moose Lodge, 10160 Jackson Road, Dexter, MI 48130.

Ron you were a pillar of strength, love, kindness that touched many lives. You found the good in all and never said a bad word about anyone. Words can't express how you made this world a better place. You will always be in my heart.
