Obituaries

David Pochay, 52, died on May 10, 2022, in Keizer, Oregon. He was born on January 27, 1970 to Philip and Ellen (Peters) Pochay in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he grew up with his brother Philip John and sister Melody. David loved to organize and although he was one of the younger kids in his neighborhood, other kids frequently relied on him to choose the activity of the day. He loved karate, Mountain Dew, Dungeons and Dragons, GURPS and similar roleplaying games. As time went on, his interests expanded to B movies, computer games and some hard rock music. David loved fun.

In September 1984, David moved to Chelsea, Michigan with his family. After his daughter, Kelsey Ellen was born he moved to Garland, Texas.

David moved to Minnesota in 2005 to help with the family business for several years, eventually meeting his second wife, Erica Redlich. Erica was Canadian and some of their courtship was conducted by computer. They were married November 8, 2009, in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. They settled in Keizer, Oregon with Erica’s daughter Kaitlyn Yusko (nicknamed Kaity). David was incomparably funny, hospitable, and kind. And he was always very devoted to family. He worked hard to give his family the best possible life that he could.

David is survived by his wife Erica, his daughter Kelsey, his step-daughter Kaity, parents, Philip and Ellen Pochay, Sister Melody Vassoff of Bloomington, Minnesota, brother Philip John (RoxAnn) Pochay of Wyoming, Minnesota, and Kelsey’s mother Amie. He is also survived by uncles, aunts, nephews, their families, and several life-long friends.
