Of Chelsea, Michigan, age 75, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the University of Michigan Hospital. She was born January 19, 1947 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Robert G. & Leona M. (Weinberg) Foster.

Dennie was a first grade teacher for the Chelsea School District for 38 years. She felt blessed to have shared her love of teaching with so many of Chelsea’s families. Dennie was not just a teacher...this was her calling and there was no one better at this profession. She was effortless in delivering curriculum but magical in teaching life lessons. “Your heart always knows the truth.” were words overheard in her first-grade classroom. Mrs. Schiller’s imprint lives on in her students’ hearts. Dennie’s family and lifelong friends are witness to her loyal and unwavering love. This fierce love for her people has no expiration, she lives on in all she loved. She will be in every child’s giggle, every mischievous look, every selfless act of generosity, and every word of love spoken or written, there will be Dennie.

On September 3, 1963, she married Stanley R. “Stan” Schiller, and he preceded her in death on April 16, 2014. Survivors include a son, Troy (Laurie) Schiller of Chelsea; three grandsons, Kyle (Stefany), Cody (Kay) and Chad (Stevie); 6 great-grandchildren, Lillian, Callan, Remington, Emery, Bennett, Graham; and a sister, Gail (Dennis) White of Chelsea. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Talia “Tia” Schiller in November 2000.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2-4 & 6-9 pm at Cole Funeral Chapel. A private burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Chelsea Education Foundation.

Troy, Lorie, boys, and Gail: I'm still coming to terms for your great loss. Denise always made me feel welcomed and included. She was very young at heart, which is how we laughed a lot. Dennie was a bonus to the Schiller family. Know how much I am praying for your pain and grief to subside. Rest in Peace dear, sweet Dennie.

Dear Gail, Troy, and all Dennie's family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I have happy memories of my "big" cousins Dennie and Gail, always together, and always sparkling with fun. It meant so much to see Dennie and Gail together for my dad's visitation a few years ago. Much love to you, Gail, and all your family. Wishing you peace in your happy memories of Dennie.

So sorry to hear this news. She was a very special lady. Doug remembers she and Gail as babysitters when his family moved to town. I was lucky enough to have her as a teacher. Always loved chatting with her. Prayers for your family!

Best Friend Troy, my heart goes out to you and the family. So many memories of your Mom all the way back to us being kids. My son Jacob remembers your Mom vividly and shared a few stories of her during his first grade class with me last night. Thinking of you during this difficult time.

Wow, so sad to hear of this loss! Dennie was a ray of sunshine and energy! I was lucky to have her as teacher and "cool mom"! Dennie, Stan and Tia are all missed, but hope and peace are found thinking about their souls reuniting! :)

I moved to Chelsea in 1996 and was lucky enough to have Mrs. Schiller as my first grade teacher that year. She was the most wonderful teacher and I have always thought fondly of her since. Just last night I told my own first grader a story of when I was in her class. I recalled Mrs. Schiller had a prize bucket her students got to choose a prize from on occasion. I always choose the delicious bubbalicious gum pieces she had in there :) she was the most welcoming and fun teacher and she made the beginning of my life in Chelsea, where I continue to reside, a lovely one.
Sending warm thoughts to her loved ones.

Gail and Dennis, I am so sincerely sorry for your loss.
You two girls were inseparable.
Dennie was one of Trevor's favorite teachers, she was so gifted. She may be gone from here but she will not be forgotten by so many.
