Maximus Grant Keywell

Age 19, died Saturday, June 25, 2022 in Dexter. Max was born April 23, 2003 in Ann Arbor, the son of Matthew (Toni) Keywell and Sarah (Michael Jeffries) Keywell.
Max graduated from Dexter High School in 2021, where he enjoyed the Debate Club. He attended Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama several times. After graduating, he worked at Cornman Farms. He enjoyed amusement parks, ice skating, family vacations and good food. He was the smartest and the funniest kid. Max loved his ducks, especially Jeffy, chickens, particularly Darby, and dogs, Judy and Moneypenny. He loved fashion and fancy clothes.

Viola Elizabeth Harvey

Age 94, died peacefully in the hands of the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at the home of her daughter Carol, who lovingly cared for her, in Cape Coral, Florida, where she had lived since October 2014. She was born on the Eden family farm on August 11, 1927, near La Crescent, Minnesota.  She shared all the hard work of farming with her brothers and sisters until she moved off the farm to work as a waitress in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

On February 2, 1945, she married her soul mate Bill Harvey Sr. They spent 54 active, happy years together raising four children and enjoying life. She and Bill moved to Chelsea, Michigan, in 1961 and joined St. Mary Parish, and they quickly developed many friendships, especially through involvement with the Knights of Columbus, where Bill served a term as 4th Degree Grand Knight. Viola loved cooking and baking. Viola always prepared the most wonderful meals for her family. She also loved being outdoors, gardening, fishing, walking beaches collecting sea shells, listening to music, playing with her grand fur babies, visiting friends at the park, playing cards and traveling.  She especially loved being at the family cabin in Indian River, Michigan.

George M. Kattula

Of Chelsea, Michigan, age 82, died Saturday, June 25, 2022 in Chelsea, Michigan. He was born December 8, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Peter and Mary (Thomas) Kattula.

George served in the Air Force for six years during the Viet Nam war. He was a long-time member of the UAW. He worked many hours as an Assistant Manager at Wrigley's Supermarket and Kmart Supermarket to support his family. George worked at GM for 10 years, and at Chrysler, also for 10 years. George attended the Chelsea First United Methodist Church for many years.

Vernon B. Woodward

of Chelsea, Michigan, age 90, died Sunday, June 26, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 29, 1931, in Hohenwald, TN, the son of James Richard and Etha Bell (Appleton) Woodward.

Vernon served in the Army during the Korean War, serving as a guard in Korea on Cheju-Do Island. He worked at the General Motors Assembly Division as a body repairman for 31 years, retiring in 1992. After his retirement, Vernon and Wilma bought a winter home in Florida where they spent the next 30 winters in their beloved Camp Florida Resort where they met and formed many close friendships with many of the residents. His background was the Baptist faith. Vernon enjoyed woodworking.

Michael Carl Eckhout

Of Chelsea, MI, age 41, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022. He was born December 9, 1980 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the son of Glenn Joseph & Kathy J. (Eckhout) Glinski.

Mike was a 1999 graduate of Dexter High School. He worked for Sweepster (now known as Stanley Black & Decker). Mike enjoyed outdoor activities - hunting, fishing, dirt bikes, and camping. He had a large personality, “go big or go home”. Mike loved his family, and would help anyone he could.
