Shirley Mae “Sherry” Drew

Sherry DrewShirley Mae “Sherry” (Hunter) Drew, age 83, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019.  She was born February 5, 1936 in Akron, Ohio.  Sherry (she preferred this name) was a loving wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed celebrating holidays and special meals with her family and friends. She had a way of making sure that when you spent time in her home it was relaxing, comfortable and filled with loving hospitality.

Ruth Elizabeth Wescott

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Ypsilanti, age 97, died Friday, February 15, 2019 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born April 18, 1921 in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer C. & Mae (Eisenhower) Jackson.

   Ruth lived in Ypsilanti for about 50 years until she moved to the Garden Apartments of Chelsea Retirement Community in the 1990s.  Ruth was an active member of First United Methodist Churches in Ypsilanti and Chelsea, where she participated in the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School for many years.  She was a former President and active member of PEO.  Most importantly, she was a devoted wife and mother.

Thomas John Labut

of Pinckney, MI, formerly of Taylor, MI, age 49, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at U of M Hospital due to complications from an extended illness. He was born April 18, 1969 in Warren, Michigan, the son of Frank Richard & Janice Eileen (Mitchell) Labut.  Tom graduated from Truman High School in Taylor in 1987, and then attended Lima Technical Truck Mechanic School.  He owned his own small engine repair business, and also drove truck for a while.   He was proud to be a stay-at-home dad.  Tom attended New Faith Chapel in Romulus, and enjoyed racing quads and dirtbikes.  He loved sports, especially the Tigers and attending his nieces' & nephews' sporting events.  

Joyce Jeanette (Farley) Harris

Of Chelsea, Michigan, age 85, died peacefully Thursday, February 14, 2019 surrounded by her family at her home. She was born July 3, 1933 in Loyall, KY, the daughter of Lawrence & Gladys (Bailey) Farley.

Joyce graduated as Valedictorian of Loyall High School in 1951. In 1999, she retired from Chelsea Milling Company after 40 years. Joyce volunteered at Chelsea Community Hospital gift shop and sewing circle,  Maxey Boys School, and Meals on Wheels. She attended Immanuel Bible Church in Chelsea and Last Day Kingdom Ministry in Ypsilanti. Joyce traveled with the Endtime Handmaidens Ministry to Israel, and attended many of their conventions in the US each year. Joyce was a member of the Red Hat Club in Chelsea and the Chelsea Women’s Club. She enjoyed sewing, painting, cooking and gardening, and especially loved her rose bushes.

Steven John Yeasting

of Grass Lake, MI, formerly of Chelsea, age 71, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly Monday, February 4, 2019 at his home. He was born May 6, 1947 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of G. Emerson & Alene Mae (Mathews) Yeasting.  Steve graduated from Dearborn High School in 1965. He was a Master Mechanic at Japanese Auto Professional Service in Ann Arbor and at Side Street Garage in Chelsea. Steve attended several churches in the Chelsea area, including Chelsea Free Methodist, Main Street Church, Mt. Hope Church, and Family Worship Center. He loved the outdoors, and his passion was fishing at Forest Lake and Island Lake. Steve also enjoyed collecting fossils.
