Norma M. Barker

of Chelsea, Michigan,  age 95, died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at her daughter's home in Grass Lake. She was born July 20, 1924 in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Carl & Edna “Irene” (Struthers) Girven.
   Norma graduated from Shepherd High School. She was a resident of Chelsea since 1956. Norma was a devoted wife and mother, involved in her kid’s lives and she loved seeing their photos. She had a green thumb and loved to garden. Norma enjoyed euchre, scrabble, and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed the social activities at The Pines. Norma followed her beloved Detroit Tigers and watched all of the games.

Earnest Delbert Lawson

 
of Chelsea, Michigan, age 70, died Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at his home due to natural causes. He was born May 19, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of Walter William & Julia Irene (Barefield) Lawson.  Earnie attended Wayne Memorial High School, then served in the US Army during the Viet Nam war from June 1968 to June 1971.  He worked as an independent carpet installer.  Earnie loved fishing and was often seen riding his scooter around Chelsea in the last few years.
 

William Leslie “Les” Rogers

“No Les, no more”
of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Ann Arbor, age 86, died peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Chelsea Retirement Community, of Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born March 27, 1934 in Boston, MA, the son of William Llew & Persis (Worcester) Rogers.  L
es graduated from Pleasantville High School, Pleasantville, NY in 1951. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1955, and earned an MS and Ph.D. in nuclear Physics from Case Western Reserve University. In 1968 Les moved his family to Ann Arbor to start his career at Bendix Aerospace, where he worked on a project to design a Life Detector Module for the Mars Lander.  In 1970, he was recruited as a research scientist in the Division of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Michigan, where he not only had a very distinguished career, but also found a home. During his career he held appointments as a Professor and Research Scientist in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Biomedical Engineering. He served as an academic advisor for graduate students and was a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health.
 

Michael Norman Wilson

 Michael Norman Wilson of Manchester, formerly of Belleville, Ann Arbor, Detroit, Garden City and Cheboygan; At age 69, died Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at the home of friends in Manchester, where he found respite and was living intermittently for several years.  He was born January 24, 1951, in Detroit, the son of Norman Delbert Wilson and Mary (Butler) Wilson.  He was the youngest of 11 children growing up on a poultry farm in Belleville.
 
He served in the US Army , during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1972, where he was a decorated combat infantryman.
 
Mike was a career truck driver for a mid-sized Michigan based company where he received a Million Mile Safe Driving Award. Due to a serious illness he was no longer able to continue this work. 
 

Howard Willson

Of Manchester, MI, age 84, died Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ypsilanti. He was born October 9, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Harry & Ruth (Mills) Willson. A lifelong airplane aficionado, he was a pilot and even built his own kit-plane, an Avid Flyer.  Howard retired from Chrysler, where he had worked as an engineer for 34 years until his retirement in 2000.
  He is survived by two children, Lauren (Tim) Wacker of Manchester; Doug (Judi) Willson of Grass Lake; many grand- and great-grandchildren.
