Veronica C. Paddock

Of Chelsea, Michigan, age 76, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at her home surrounded in love by her family. She was born October 25, 1944 in Dexter, Michigan, the daughter of William and Grace (Koch) Ledwidge. She was raised on her family’s centennial farm in Dexter, of which she was so proud and truly loved.
Veronica graduated from Dexter High School in 1962. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea for about 45 years. Veronica’s Catholic faith guided her soul all her life and that continues in the fabric of her family, which was so important to her. She retired from University of Michigan in 2007. After retirement she enjoyed making stained glass for her family members. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, baking and watching the blue birds and hummingbirds around her home. Veronica loved her grandkids and enjoyed following all their sports and activities.

"Ravi" Ravindranath S. Desai

Of Chelsea, Michigan, age 56, passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes on Friday, December 4, 2020 at his home. He was born July 18, 1964 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Shivajirao "Shiva" Govindrao & Marlene (Peters) Desai. Ravi graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 1982. He studied Computer Science at U of M-Flint, graduating in 1986, and received his Masters in Mathematics at EMU in 1995. Ravi was a software architect at CareEvolution in Ann Arbor. He was an active and faithful member of the Chelsea Free Methodist Church.

Kathleen Ruth Smith-Klem

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Trenton & Lincoln Park, MI, age 92, passed away suddenly Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was born April 26, 1928 in Van Wert, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph & Nellie Ruth (Harrison) Armstrong.  Kathleen graduated from Lincoln Park High School, and earned her Bachelors and Masters in Education from Eastern Michigan University. She taught in the Lincoln Park School district in Elementary and for the learning disabled until 1985. Kathleen loved to golf at the Westshore Golf Club in Grosse Isle. She enjoyed Euchre, bridge, playing cards in general, and clothes shopping. Kathleen was complimented by all on her beautiful clothes. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends.

Tressie Lea Preston

who lived at Wellbridge of Pinckney in Michigan, passed away November 18, 2020, at Arbor Hospice in Saline, Michigan. She would have turned 93 on her December 1 birthday. Tressie was born in Elkview, WV, to Alda and James Cooper and was the 10th of 12 children.

In 1949, she married Charles Everett Preston and they spent most of their life together in Bridgeport, WV. Simpson Creek Baptist Church was a central focus of their life and Tressie enjoyed sewing.

Donald L. Krieger

of Jackson, MI, age 86, died Friday, November 27, 2020 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson. He was born September 9, 1934 in Benton Township, MI , the son of William F. & Marion Louise (Garlanger) Krieger.  Don served in the US Army from 1957-1959. He was a member of New Living Covenant Church in Jackson. Don and Marlene were foster parents for many years.

On August 22, 1958 he married Sylvia “Marlene” Duncan, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 2018. Survivors include two sons, Kevin Krieger of Portage Lake, Ed (Dianna) Krieger of California; and three daughters, La'Denia (Rodney) Lemmon of Florida, Dawn (Mike) Birchmeier of Lennon, Koreen Sage of Kansas; two sisters, Shirley Workman and Arlene (Ed) Arzar both of Florida; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Kelley Krieger, and one granddaughter, Jennifer.
