Dorothy M. Collins

Age 88, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at Legacy Assisted Living. She was born March 21, 1928 in Lyndon Township, Michigan, one of 16 children born to Edwin and Eva M. (Hart) Bauer.

Dorothy resided in the Chelsea area all of her life.  She retired from Applied Dynamics in Ann Arbor in January 1991, and was a member of the Chelsea First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed laughing and being with others, especially family members.  Her hobbies included bowling with her Senior Bowling League, and playing euchre with her family and friends. She loved to exercise at Curves and Anytime Fitness.

Mary "Kendall" Kleis

Of Chelsea, Michigan.

Age 74, died on September 26, 2016 at University of Michigan Hospital. She was born February 5, 1942 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Harold F. and Eleanor M. (O'Keefe) Kleis.  Kendall received her Master's in Education and worked as an Elementary School Teacher before retiring. She was surrounded by many caring and loving friends who will miss her dearly.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John Kleis.

Phyllis W. Foster


of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Ann Arbor, age 95, died Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born March 12, 1921 in Bronson, Michigan, the daughter of William & Anna Eva (Semmelroth) Foster.      Phyllis graduated from Bronson High School in 1938, then Albion College in 1942, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.  She attended the University of Michigan where she earned her Masters of Science in Biochemistry. She worked as a Research Associate for the University of Michigan (School of Public Health) and retired in 1986.  Phyllis was very active in the First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor, and helped start the memorial gardens there. She also served on the Ann Arbor District and Detroit Conference of the United Methodist Church, where she was the District President of the United Methodist Women, and chaired the Conference Board of Trustees.

Mary "Karen" Knafl

of Chelsea, MI, died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at home peacefully at the age of 78. Karen was born April 16, 1938, a twin daughter to John Barclay Roche and Lucille Helen (Flahrety) Roche. Much of Karen's youth was spent traveling with her family within the United Stated. She graduated from Newton High School in New Jersey before attending Vassar College.

Trillis M. Boyer

of Bayonet Point, FL, formerly of Chelsea, MI.  Age 90, died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Golfside Hospice in Hudson, Florida. She was born September 26, 1925 in Owosso, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph E. & Mildred M. (McCully) Eaton.

Trill was born in Owosso, lived in Grand Ledge, Mulliken, spent 25 years in Chelsea and 11 years in Milford, MI before moving to Bayonet Point, FL in 1980.   She was a Dental Assistant at U of M, retiring in 1972. She was active in the United Methodist Church (Head Usher for past 12 years and on the Worship Committee as well as head of registration in SHARE program for 6 years).
