Melanie Claire Hopp
Melanie Claire Hopp passed away at her home in Chelsea, MI on April 13, 2019 after thriving in the face of cancer for many years. She was well-supported in her final days by her loving family, her many friends and Arbor Hospice. Melanie was born in 1957 in Livonia, MI to Elliott and Marjorie Parrish. She met her husband of 40 years, Wallace Hopp, at Michigan State University. They married in 1978 and settled in Chicago where they restored an old Victorian house and raised their two children, Elliott (of Auburn Hills) and Clara (of Detroit). In addition to creating a warm home, Melanie worked as a learning specialist who taught special education students in the Chicago Public Schools and later in Ann Arbor.
of Chelsea, MI, age 96, died Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born June 5, 1922 in Mecosta County, Michigan, the daughter of Harold B. & Beryl M. (Abbey) Watson.
of Manchester, MI, age 83, died of Alzheimer’s dementia on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born February 12, 1936 in Jackson, Michigan, the son of James & Mildred (Vaughn) Willis. Richard graduated from Northville High School in 1954, and spent a year at Alma College. He was in the Army Reserves for 7 years. Richard was hired by Detroit Edison, where he worked for more than 32 years as a service planner. He was a member of Chelsea First United Methodist Church, where he was active as a greeter. Richard was a hunter. Lois and Richard loved traveling and camping, in their RV, on their Honda Goldwing, and on cruises. They wintered in Arizona and Southern California for 14 years.
