of Ypsilanti, MI, formerly of Chelsea, age 93, died Saturday, April 18, 2020 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born June 27, 1926 in Jackson, Michigan, the son of William C. & Sophie (Krygowski) Hahn.

Renaissance man. World War II veteran. Beloved Teacher. Loving husband.

Bill graduated from Jackson High School in 1944. He served in the Army Medical Corp stateside during WWII after many failed attempts to enlist due to poor eyesight. He graduated from the University of Detroit (where he met the love of his life) and the University of Michigan with a double Masters. Bill taught at Cody High School in Detroit (10 years) and Churchill High School in Livonia (22 years) until his retirement in 1990. After retiring, he lived in his dream home in Gregory, MI. Bill ran the entertainment stage at the Michigan State Fair during the 60s. He was an Apiarist, selling honey at the Ann Arbor Farmer's Market. Bill was a former President and glider pilot with the Sandhill Soaring Club in Chelsea. He was a proud member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dexter. His grandchildren have many fond memories of Grandpa's delightful hayrides.

Loving husband of Elvira DiCicco for 68 years. Other survivors include a sister, Marianne Hahn of IL; his children, Paul (Jennie) Hahn of Ann Arbor, Mary (Marshall) Bice of IL, Thomas (Sandra) Hahn of Ann Arbor, John (Lori,Rain) Hahn of AZ; his grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Kuzma ,Laura Kuzma, Angelina Bice, Spenser Bice, Jonathan (Amanda) Hahn, Christopher Hahn, Alexandra (Jacob) Kearly, Brianna LaBelle-Hahn and Alana LaBelle-Hahn. Great-grandchildren, Brendan Kuzma, Miles Kuzma, Annie Lynn Alexandra Hahn, Thia Whitler and Emma Cash. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert; daughter, Katherine (Steve Kuzma, Lewis Bantom) and son, William Jr.

A private burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Dexter, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Chelsea District Library, 221 S. Main St, Chelsea, MI 48118. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.

Wonderful man. We would have coffee at Faith In Action and tease some of the staff. Our prayers for Bill and his family.

Bill was a good-natured, generous man. I will never forget how he took me for a glider ride In Unadilla, and the unique suits he would wear to church when he was with the St. Mary Choir.
