of Dexter, age 62, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born September 14, 1949 in Adrian, MI, the daughter of Vincent & Dorothy (Deihl) Merkel.

Evelyn was baptized and confirmed at St. James Episcopal Church in Dexter; she was a Dexter high school graduate of 1969.  Although Evelyn lived her whole life in Dexter, she enjoyed spending winters in Ft. Meyers, Florida with her dad.

Survivors include her father of Dexter; a sister, Nancy Scott of Chelsea; a brother, Donald (Diane) Merkel of Fredrick, MI; six nieces and nephews, Jeff (Bonnie Jean) Scott, Bonnie (Tom) Scott-Mannor, Zoie (Don) Wheeler, Donald Merkel, Doug Merkel, Daniel (Michelle) Merkel; and 7 grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 23, 10:30 am at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Fr. David Glaser and Fr. Bill Stech officiating.  Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Chelsea.
