of Ann Arbor, Michigan, age 86, died Saturday, December 9, 2017 in Jackson, Michigan, surrounded by her family and pastor.  She was born March 11, 1931 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Harold and Milda (Nicolai) Whipple.

Carolyn graduated from Ann Arbor High School. She was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor for 60+ years. Carolyn was a florist all of her life.  She worked at Chelsea Flower Shop in Ann Arbor and Farmer Grants, and later owned Garnetts Flower Shop in Chelsea with her sister Shirley.  She was a member of Washtenaw County Farm Bureau. Carolyn liked to put together puzzles, crafts, arts, decorating, and thoroughly enjoyed photography. In retirement she enjoyed walking around downtown Ann Arbor and spending time with her family.

She married Arwin “Bud” Strieter on August 19, 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1995.  She is survived by her son, Dennis (Anne) Strieter; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Brandon) VanOss and Nicholas Strieter. She was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Whipple Strieter and her brother Eben Calvin “Bud” Whipple.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 19, 3:00 pm at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church,  with Pastor Michael Koepke officiating.  A private burial will take place at Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7474 Scio Church Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea.
