Age 82, died Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Chelsea Community Hospital. He was born April 15, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Lyman & Gertrude (Frederickson) Foster.
Gib graduated from MSU as a geologist in 1957. He worked as a geologist for the State of Michigan Dept. of Transportation. Gib liked to fish, especially for steelhead in the Betsie River. He played golf and tennis, and watched football constantly.
On April 7, 1951, he married Audrey Louise Troxel in Lansing, and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Katherine (Steven) Ray of Manchester; two granddaughters, Katherine (Rich) Caldwell of VA, and Emily Ray of CA.
The family received friends Friday, Oct. 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
A graveside service was held Saturday, Oct. 15, noon at Rowe’s Corner Cemetery behind Sharon United Methodist Church, Manchester. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
