Of Akron, Ohio formerly of Chelsea, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Evangelical Home in Saline after a short illness. She was born August 17, 1940 in Chelsea, Michigan, the daughter of Clarence E. “Cub” & Beatrice V. (Trolz) Vogel.

Kay graduated from Chelsea High School in 1958 and then attended Eastern Michigan University. On September 2, 1961, she married Hugh Weinberg in Chelsea, Michigan. She served as a substitute teacher in the Chelsea School District for a short time before starting a family. Kay was a member of the First Congregational Church of Chelsea while living in Chelsea for many years. After her move to the Akron area, she regularly participated in bible study at the Lakeview Christian Church and Cuyahoga Falls Christian Church and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Akron.

Blessed with vivid blue eyes and a witty sense of humor, her greatest joy was spending time with family and many friends. Since moving to the Portage Lakes in Akron in 2005, Hugh and Kay enjoyed boating and spending social time on the lake with neighbors and many close friends as they pontooned the lake's shore line.

Kay is survived by her husband Hugh. She will also be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her three children: Jill Grace of Hudson, Ohio, Jayne (Matt) Hicks of Hudson, Ohio, John (Becky) Weinberg of Ypsilanti, Michigan; two sisters: Sally Ringe and Phyllis (Ralph) Wurster, both of Chelsea; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends in both Chelsea and Akron.

A celebration of Kay’s life is planned for the spring with a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea. The family extends its appreciation of memorial contributions to be made to the First Congregational Church of Chelsea.

Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
