Of Chelsea, formerly of Britton, Saline, and Jamestown, age 84, died at Chelsea Retirement Community on Thursday, December 25, 2014. He was born July 8, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Charles E. & Alice Jane (Hancock) Gorton.
Bud worked at Citizen’s Bank in Saline (now Key Bank). He was a member of the Macon United Methodist Church. On February 13, 1954, he married Janet Crittenden at Macon Methodist Church, and she survives. Other survivors include a son, Daniel (Betty) Gorton of Holland, MI; a daughter, Cathy Rafferty of Chelsea; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Gerry) Gorton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandson.
No services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Macon United Methodist Church, United Methodist Retirement Communities Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
