of Crystal River, FL, formerly of Jackson, MI, born May 31, 1920 and went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2014 at the age of 94.
Robert was a long time native of Jackson, Michigan and held his residence at 10243 Pamondeho Circle, Crystal River, Florida. He loved to travel, play golf, and he wanted one thing said of him when he left this world, “Rest assured he left this world in good standing with all who knew him.” He was truly a kind, and loving husband, father, and a true man of integrity.
Robert was a Boy Scout leader, 4-H leader, Baseball coach while living in the Jackson, MI area, and a Deacon in his church in Florida. He served his country faithfully during WWII (1943-1946) as a Motor Mac MM 2nd Class in the United States Navy. He received ribbons for service in the European, African, Middle Eastern, and Asiatic Pacific Theaters. He was the recipient of the Victory Medal and received personal letters of appreciation from Admiral James Forrestal and President Harry S.Truman.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Irene Lane; brothers, Arnold (wife Betty), Duane Lane (wife Mary); and his father and mother Joseph and Edwina Lane.
Surviving family members are: brother, Calvin Lane (wife Betty); sons, Robert G. Lane (wife Renee), Randolph A. Lane (wife Jo Ellen), Alan R. Lane (wife Karleen); grandchildren, Shelly (husband Gary), Melissa, Sheri, Shane (wife Sara), Shawn, Shayla, Kevin (wife Jessica), Kraig (wife Jessica), & Nicole; great-grandchildren, Caelie, Allison, Ryan, Taylor, Annabelle, & Gavin. He will truly be missed in this world but he will be happily reunited with his loving wife Ethel once again.
A memorial service was held Saturday, September 27, 2014, 10:00 am at South Jackson Community Church in Jackson, Michigan, with Pastor Steve Brown officiating. Burial took place at Roseland Memorial Gardens in Vandercook Lake, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel.
