Of Chelsea, MI, age 88, died Sunday, December 13, 2020 at his home. He was born February 17, 1932 in Cookeville, TN, the son of Freeman & Betha (Loftis) Young.

Charlie served in the US Army (82nd Airborne Division) in Korea during the Korean War. He worked for Chrysler Proving Grounds as a department foreman until his retirement in 1992. Charlie then started his own excavating company, and made ponds and driveways for many people in the surrounding area. He was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He loved hunting, NASCAR races, and sports (especially wrestling and football). Charlie was a member of the NRA.

On Feb. 19, 1955, he married Rosemarie Parker at St. Dominic's in Detroit, MI, and she preceded him in death on June 13, 2004. He is survived by 4 children; Mary Livingston, Lisa (Ric) Foytik, Michael (Kim) Young, and Chuck Young, all of Chelsea; 6 grandchildren, Koby (Nicole) Foytik, Corrine (Senate) Tailford, Shontay Doyle, Brent (Brandy) Young, Vanessa (Matt) David & Victoria (Aaron) Jameyfield; 13 great-grandchildren, Collin & Charlese Tailford, Max & Isaac Doyle, Ella & Leah David, Kyler Jameyfield, Ben & Derek Young, Vivian & Carson Foytik; and two brothers, David (Dorothy) & Glenn (Cheryl).

A private Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea, with Rev. Dr. William Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Chelsea. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements were entrusted to Cole Funeral Chapel.
