of Chelsea, Michigan, age 88, died Friday, November 1, 2013 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born July 3, 1925 in Caledonia Township, Michigan, the daughter of William F. and Elva Maude (Steeby) Frey.
Helen graduated from Middleville High School. She continued her education at the Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as an R.N. in July of 1946. Helen was a nurse for her entire career as she also fulfilled her second full-time job as “Pastor's Wife”. Retirement brought her back home to Caledonia for 17 years until her move to the Chelsea Retirement Community in 2004.
She married Rev. Ralph C. Pratt on March 21, 1948 at Leighton E.U.B. Church, and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2006. Survivors include three sons, Paul (Denise Chrysler) Pratt, Wayne (Karen) Pratt, Keith Pratt; two daughters, Margaret (Kevin) Lamiman, Gwen (Dale) Dunlap; 3 grandsons; and one sister, Ruth Frey French. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her brother, 2 sisters, and a daughter-in-law.
A memorial service was held Saturday, November 23, 1:00 pm at Chelsea Retirement Community Chapel, with Rev. Cathy Rafferty officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to service. A private burial will be at Hooker Cemetery, Leighton Township, Allegan County. Memorial contributions may be made to Chelsea Retirement Community. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
