Age 77, died at his home surrounded his loving family on Saturday, February 11, 2012 after a valiant fight against cancer. He was born April 6, 1934 in Brownstown, Michigan, the son of Arthur & Clara (Anson) Frankhouse.  Jack graduated from Carleton Airport High School in 1952. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. He worked for the DT&I, Grand Trunk & Western and Canadian National Railroads, retiring as an engineer in 1996. Jack was also a barber in Newport from 1959 - 1973. He was a member of Carleton United Methodist Church serving in various leadership positions.

Jack loved sports—as a fan and as a participant. He was an avid golfer, bowler, and played many sports in his youth. Over the past 15 years, he spent winters in Fort Myers, Florida with his wife Barbara often seen playing bridge with friends and family and riding his bike through the park. Jack served the Sun and Fun community in Florida as resident barber, painter, and event planner. He loved cheering on his grandchildren during their football, basketball, softball, and lacrosse games.
On January 15, 1955, he married Barbara D. Cole in Carleton, and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Sheri (Scott) Preston of Monroe, Jan (Christopher) Perez of Bethesda, Maryland; 4 grandchildren, Matthew (Stacy) Preston, Jennifer (Scott) Below, Sarah Perez, Alex Perez; 4 great-grandchildren Delilah Preston, Noah Below, Caden Brooks, Hayes Brooks ; 3 brothers, Clarence “Red” (Sharlene), Thomas (Stephanie), Mike; 2 sisters, Jill Robertson, Patricia (Buddy) Green; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, David in 1986; his parents Clara and Arthur, and 2 brothers, James & Dale.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 11:00 am at Carleton United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brent Webster officiating. Burial will follow at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock. The family will receive friends at the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Carleton Chapel, Monday from 6-9 and Tuesday from 2-9 pm and at the church Wednesday from 10-11 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Carleton United Methodist Church or the charity of the donors choice. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
