Of Chelsea, Michigan, age 72, died Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the U of M Hospital. She was born August 12, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Frederick J. & Winifred L. (Thornton) Doyle.
Margaret graduated from St. Thomas High School in Ann Arbor in 1966. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea. Margaret was a happy mother and homemaker who enjoyed her mystery novels. She raised 5 kids, and enjoyed her 5 grandkids.
On June 6, 1970, she married Joseph H. Smith in Plymouth, and he survives. She is also survived by her 5 children, Joseph L. (Wendi) of Westland, Michael L. (Dr. Cara) of W. Bloomfield, Megan M. (Daniel) Long of Chelsea, Mark F. (Brooke) of Ypsilanti, Amanda J. Smith of Chelsea; her brother, Timothy (Christine) Doyle of Dixboro; her sister, Katherine “Kay” (Charles) Mida of FL; 5 grandchildren, Margaret, Natalie, Oliver, Ainsley, Padraig “PJ”; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Patrick J. Doyle.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 19, 11:00 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea, with the V. Rev. Dr. William J. Canon Turner officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11:00 am before the funeral. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Chelsea. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Right to Life, 2340 Porter St. SW, P.O. Box 901, Grand Rapids, MI 49509-0901. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel.
