of Fort Pierce, FL. formerly of Westland, age 90, died Monday, July 6, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born February 11, 1930 in Boston, MA, the daughter of William J. & Charlotte F. (Squire) Cavanagh.  Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She retired from K-Mart, where she worked at the Livonia & Canton stores. Helen attended Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Florida. She was very active physically, enjoying shuffleboard & golfing. She also went to many dinners and activities at the American Legion (both in Westland and in Fort Pierce) until she could no longer drive.

On Nov. 26, 1949, she married Russell A. Humm in Detroit, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on July 28, 2007. Survivors include two sons, Brian (Patty) Humm of The Villages, FL, Randy Humm of Okeechobee, FL; two daughters, Cathy (Steven) Gasieski of Chelsea, Lori (Jerry) Roffey of Vero Beach, FL; 7 grandchildren; 7 1/2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Gayle; and 3 siblings.

The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020, 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea, Michigan with the V. Rev. Dr. William J. Canon Turner officiating.  Viewing will be Saturday from 10-11 am at the church. Burial will be at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital (Leukemia Fund). Arrangements were entrusted to Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea.

My Grandmother was the sweetest, funniest, caring person. She loved her Kids, Grandkids and Great grandkids so very much. She will be missed more than she knows! Until we meet again, love you Grandma xoxo

Helen will be greatly missed. I always enjoyed my visits with her when I was in Florida visiting my family. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
