of Gibraltar, Michigan, age 91, who was always sensational but modest, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 11, 2020. He was born February 20, 1929 in Hazel Park, MI, the son of Robert and Nora (MacKenzie) Payne. Stanley served in the U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, where he was deployed for many years. He married his bride, Juanita (McPherson) on March 23, 1956, and they shared a storybook love for 63+ years. Stanley retired from Western Electric in Plymouth, MI. After his retirement, he continued to keep himself busy at Don Massey Cadillac, and Bally Total Fitness, where he always brought a smile to the face of his many co-workers.

The well-loved patriarch of what he described as “the best family there is” leaves behind his children, Edward Spears, Loretta (Gerald) Bouchard, John Spears, Nora (Paul) Moretz, Brenda (Valerio) Pomponio, Michael (Gina) Payne, Randy (Michelle) Payne, Kevin (Jane) Payne; and his siblings Raymond (Patricia) Payne, Dell “Toots” (William) Wydeck, Beverly (Fred) Shaw. Stanley also leaves behind his loving grandchildren, Bridget (Michael) Soetebeer, Mickey Bolf, Paul (Erin) Moretz, Christopher Moretz, Jennifer (Erik) Carpenter, Kyle (Amanda) Kiniry, Sara Pomponio, Jessica Payne, Michael Payne, Nicole Payne, Lindsay (Tyler) Adair, Tyler Payne, Travis Payne, Kourtney Payne; and his great grandchildren, Steven Woodward, Seth Soetebeer, Kobi and Breanna Moretz, Carter and Patrick Moretz, Christopher Carpenter, and Hayden Kiniry. He was preceded in death by his beloved bride of 63 years, Juanita, and his siblings Margaret Passeno and Roberta “June” Verlotti.

Burial took place at Wixom Cemetery, Wixom, MI.

“D” would want all his loved ones “to keep smiling, kid, and remember to let it ring twice.”
