of Mattawan, Michigan, age 85, passed away suddenly of natural causes Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in Sun City West, Arizona. She was born January 14, 1935 in Wyandotte, Michigan, the daughter of Anthony & Jessie (McMillan) Mendis.
  Dorine graduated from River Rouge High School in 1953. She earned a Bachelor's degree in teaching from Eastern Normal. Dorine was a bookkeeper for Congdon’s Ace Hardware in Ypsilanti until 1980, and worked in real estate in Traverse City from 1981-2000. She enjoyed winter in her home in Surprise, AZ. Dorine loved the Southwest, and collecting Native American art. She loved reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
In 1956, Dorine went on a blind date with Alfred Congdon, and they were married on September 1, 1957. She is survived by her husband, Alfred R. Congdon Sr., a son, Alfred R. (Lilli) Congdon Jr. of Paw Paw, and  a daughter, Jessie E. Burley of Mattawan; six grandchildren, Philip R. (Jess) Parsons, Erin Congdon, Abby (Cory) Hatcher, Emma (Cameron) Kiesgen, Courtney Congdon, Elizabeth Congdon; one great-grandchild, Sutton Kiesgen; and a niece and nephew, Linda Hertz and Don R. Congdon.
    A celebration of her life will be held in the future when possible. She was buried at Oak Grove East Cemetery, Chelsea, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Chelsea First United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.

She was one of the finest persons I’ve ever known, and so proud of her two wonderful children and all her grandchildren and family. A treasure who will be missed.
