Bette Joyce (Lindemann) Margeson, daughter of the late Ernest A. Lindemann and Lydia (Treder) Lindemann, was born on June 29, 1927 in Benton Harbor MI. She passed December 9, 2019 at Towsley Memory Village, Chelsea.  She graduated from Benton Harbor High School and then attended the University of Michigan where she received a BA in Music.  She was an accomplished pianist and singer. She sang with the choir at the Congregational Church in Benton Harbor and the U of M Choral Union.

She married Dr. Ross Margeson on June 17, 1949.The couple met by chance at Miller’s Ice Cream on South University while students in 1946. The family lived on Buckingham Court in Ann Arbor for 56 years. Bette’s passions were her family and home. She was a devoted and loving partner and parent. She had many friends over the years and her home was a center of hospitality.
She also had many interests including skiing at Boyne Mountain with family, as well as trips West and to Europe. Bette and Ross traveled extensively to places such as Israel, Russia, Japan and China. She enjoyed handwork such as cross stitch, rug hooking and knitting. Bette was known for her baked treats, especially Christmas cookies. She was known as “The Cookie Lady” at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where she was a member for 69 years.
She was a member of the Ann Arbor Women’s City Club and served as President. She was a member of the Antiques Club and Dental Wives Auxiliary clubs. For years summers were enjoyed at the Ann Arbor Swim Club. She volunteered time at the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop for over 25 years.
Bette will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ross Margeson of Silver Maples in Chelsea, Michigan, and three children, Kimberlee Green (Jeff) of Sarasota, Florida, Gregory Margeson (Patricia) of Denville, New Jersey and Lindy Weintraub (Earl) of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and son-in-law Larry Rusinsky of Ann Arbor. She was predeceased by her daughter Marcia Rusinsky in 2015. She leaves 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Towsley Memory Care Center in Chelsea for their caring over the past 4 years.
Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Ann Arbor at 11:00 am December 16th. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Breakfast or A A Thrift Shop.
