of Chelsea, Michigan, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born May 14, 1937 in Servia, Indiana, the daughter of Roy Moses and Iva Mae (Flohr) Krichbaum.
Shirley grew up in Servia, IN, attended college in Ft Wayne, IN, and had lived in Chelsea since 1960. Shirley was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and traveling. Shirley was an avid Michigan Wolverines fan, as well as Tigers, Pistons and Lions, and for years she loved to bowl. She also did a lot of needlepoint projects, including Christmas stockings for all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and painted hundreds of Tony's carvings for all of the kids and grandkids.
On December 22, 1956, she married Michael Anthony “Tony” Bowen in Servia, Wabash County, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2015. Survivors include three sons, Steve (Michelle) of Charlevoix, Mike (Sue) and Doug (Risa) of Chelsea; one daughter, Cyndi of Chelsea; a brother, Jim (Barb) Krichbaum of Chelsea; a sister, Karen (Merl) Wilson of Indiana; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and 9 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Alex Kussurelis; a great-granddaughter, Natalie Bush; and her beloved cat, Bailey.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 15, 11:00 am at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Chelsea, with Reverend Eric Stricklin officiating. Burial will follow at North Lake Cemetery, Chelsea. The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Chapel Thursday from 4-7 pm, and Friday from 10-11 am at the church.
