of Chelsea, Michigan, age 91, died Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Arbor Hospice Residence in Saline. She was born June 26, 1927 in Monett, Missouri, the daughter of Ovid Uriah and Rose Mae (Owens) Vermillion.  Dottie was born and raised in Monett, MO.  She earned a liberal arts degree from Wayne State University, and was head of the Navy's Department of Secret Information.  She was active in Chelsea's Friends of the Library, and a charter member of the Adult Learners Institute.

On Feb. 16, 1951, she married  Stanley Ewald Staffeld II in Detroit, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 2016. Survivors include two sons, Karl (Azar) of Ann Arbor and Peter (Leslie) of Center Valley, PA.

No services will be held.  Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Chelsea District Library. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea.

Judy/Tim,

Although I don't know you, I am Stan's half brother (Karl and Peter's uncle). I didn't know about Stan's passing, and now find out that Dottie has also passed. I haven't talked to Peter in probably 20 years, and only wish I had been able to see them sooner. It sounds like you really cared for Dottie, and I appreciate all that you did.

We enjoyed your mother so much. She is greatly missed. She loved having Oliver visit. Our thoughts go out to Karl and Peter. We loved helping her out these last few months.
