Dr. Thomas Lee Hopp died on September 23, 2017 of complications from Alzheimer’s disease.   Born in Detroit to Wallace and Florence Hopp on April Fool’s Day in 1932, Tom was a life-long joker who entertained all who knew him with his mischievous sense of humor. He attended the University of Detroit High School and graduated from the University of Detroit Dental School.  He and RoseMary Petitto were married in 1955.  After serving in the Navy, Tom and RoseMary returned to Michigan and eventually settled in Mason, where he had a successful dental practice and they lived for 52 years.  They enjoyed traveling and visited many countries with the Friendship Force of Greater Lansing.

Tom served his community in many ways, as a member of the Mason School Board, President of the Mason Kiwanis, a member of the board of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Chairman of the Board for Mason State Bank, and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.  He was also a long-time patroller for the National Ski Patrol.

Tom is survived by his wife, RoseMary, and four of his five children – Wallace (wife Melanie), Susan, Karen, Larry (wife Nancy) – and five of his six grandchildren.  (RIP Michael and Nathan.)

A private family memorial will be held.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice, which was very helpful to Tom in his final days, are welcomed.
