of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Detroit, age 93, died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born July 5, 1924 in Poland, the daughter of Walter & Frances (Ryl) Wawrzyniak.  Mary was a volunteer at Our Lady Queen of Apostles in Hamtramck, St Hyacinth in Detroit, and St. Mary Orchard Lake. She enjoyed cooking, gardening vegetables, flowers and herbs, canning, music and dancing.  

She married Walter Cichon on July 16, 1946 in Germany, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2001. Survivors include two daughters, Christine (Jerry) Wilczynski of Chelsea, Wanda (Bob) Redys of Sterling Heights; 5 grandchildren, Amy Cichon, Christopher Cichon, Mathew (Arelis) Wilczynski, Jerome (Rollen Cooper) Wilczynski, Renee (Sean) Redys-Lynch; 4 great-grandchildren, Jakob and Leah Wilczynski, Madison Lynch, Mazie Lake; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, Walter, Mary was preceded in death by  a son, John.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 29, 10:30 am  at the Chelsea Retirement Community main chapel, with Rev. Cathy Rafferty officiating.  Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.  The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Chapel Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, with a prayer service at 7 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Silver Maples, 100 Silver Maples Dr, Chelsea, MI 48118 or the Chelsea Retirement Community, memo: Christmas Employee Fund, 801 W. Middle St, Chelsea, MI 48118.

We are so very sorry for your loss. We are with you in your sorrow, please accept our deepest sympathy!
As christian, however we live with the hope of seeing our loved once again in heaven where there is no tears, and no sorrows, and no death.
