Of Chelsea, age 78, died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at her home. She was born December 31, 1938 in Salem Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan, the daughter of Louis William & Alma L. (Inglehart) Esch.  Alice graduated from Dexter High School in 1957.  She worked for Chelsea Milling for 9 years, Ann Arbor Seed Co. for 16 years, and then Dapco for 30 years.  She was a hard worker all of her life, working full time until the beginning of this year.  Alice also worked on the farm, and enjoyed doing yardwork.  She liked gardening, going to garage sales, and playing euchre at card parties. She also loved to listen to talk radio, especially WJR. Alice was a loving mother, and loved spending time with her family.

On March 19, 1960, she married Richard Harry Hadley, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1986.  Survivors include two sons, David Hadley of Stockbridge, Dale Hadley of Chelsea; two daughters, Susan Hadley of Whitmore Lake, Pamela (James “Scott”) Knudsen of Kaleva, MI; 9 grandchildren, Matt, Chasidy, Kenny, Richie, Sara, Ashley, Ricky, Tabitha, Jarrett;, 8 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, John Milan; sisters-in-law Carol, Norma, and Mary Esch. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Nancy Harris; her brothers, Walter, Lester, Eugene, Ronald; her sisters, Margaret Guinan, Shirley Brassow, Betty Esch, Doris Esch, Dorothy Milan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 12, 11:00 am at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with David Esch officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Waterloo, Michigan.  The family will receive friends Thursday 6-9 pm, Friday 2-4 & 6-9 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
