of Carol Stream, IL, formerly of Chelsea, MI, age 93, died peacefully Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Belmont Village in Carol Stream, Illinois. She was born August 23rd, 1923 in Lima Township, near Chelsea, MI, the daughter of Ezra E. Heininger and Dorothy Notten.

On November 17, 1956, she married Alvin A. Wahr in Chelsea, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2011. Survivors include three children, Larry (Pamela) Wahr of Bailey, CO, Linda Wahr of Carol Stream, IL, and Kevin (Mari Anna) Wahr of Gaylord, MI; 8 grandchildren, Braden, Alyssa, Landen, Jasmine (Dr. John) Castor, Karina (Andre) Wishon, Noah, Nathan, Nicholas; 5 great-grandchildren, Lillian, Isabella, Elliana, Phoenix, Logan.

Alvin and Harriet Wahr lived on Heim Road in Chelsea from their wedding until 2005, when they moved to the Pines Senior Apartments.  They were active members of the Chelsea Free Methodist Church for many years, and later attended the Chelsea Church of the Nazarene.  Harriet was involved in the Christian Film Ministries and ministered to prisoners through Bible lessons and letters. They enjoyed travel, visiting all 48 contiguous states.  Family time, meals and fellowship were very important to her.  Harriet loved her farmhouse and gardening - especially her flower beds.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 11th at the Church of the Nazarene in Chelsea Mi. Visitation begins at 11:00 am, service at 12:00 pm with Rev. Jeff Crowder officiating.  A memorial luncheon to celebrate Harriet’s life will follow at the Village Conference Center, Comfort Inn, Chelsea.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201.
